About the position
The School Registered Nurse will be responsible for maintaining the health and safety of students in a school environment. This role involves administering medications, performing health assessments, and providing care for students with developmental disabilities. The nurse will also ensure that health information is accurately recorded and that the medical cabinet is stocked with necessary supplies.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date health information for all students, including medication orders and allergy notifications for teachers.
- Administer prescribed medications and perform daily health assessments.
- Assist the Licensed Practical Nurse as needed.
- Provide necessary care during student injuries and record incidents.
- Instruct staff on health and safety procedures.
- Ensure the medical cabinet is stocked and administer inoculations.
- Monitor overall health and safety standards within the school.
Requirements
- RN NY State License
- Minimum of six months professional nursing experience required.
- Demonstrated expertise in providing care and support for clients with developmental disabilities.
- BLS Certification
