About the position

The Security Investigator role at UPS is focused on mitigating risks related to the company's people, property, and packages. This position involves ensuring the physical security of UPS facilities through the use of CCTV and access control technology, conducting investigations into employee concerns and package loss, and engaging with law enforcement when necessary. The role requires a commitment to maintaining UPS's values, particularly integrity, while performing regulatory compliance audits and promoting adherence to transportation rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and address physical security issues including facility compromise and equipment theft.
  • Work independently and collaboratively with other investigators on security and investigative enhancements.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance investigation methodologies.
  • Monitor and resolve facility alarm issues.
  • Contract and partner with guard services for access control.
  • Conduct complex investigations into unlawful activity and policy violations.
  • Conduct interviews with investigation subjects and witnesses, and analyze investigative data.
  • Collect, secure, and document evidence properly.
  • Articulate investigative findings to management and law enforcement partners.
  • Prepare accurate and thorough investigative reports and maintain organized case files.
  • Analyze investigation results to determine preventive measures.
  • Prioritize multiple investigative tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Assist in developing customized SOPs for external customers.
  • Conduct regulatory compliance audits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or International Equivalent (Preferred)
  • Prior Military/Law Enforcement/Investigations experience (preferred)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Time management skills and ability to prioritize
  • Agility to flex work hours including split shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Willingness to be on call 24/7
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
  • High moral and ethical character
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in risk management
