About the position

The Senior Electrical Engineer at General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems is responsible for leading the design and development of control electronics for motion control products. This role involves planning, organizing, and reviewing the performance of engineering staff, ensuring that all designs meet reliability, performance, and safety standards. The position requires a strong background in electrical engineering, particularly in the areas of electro-mechanical systems and embedded programming.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, and tests electrical equipment, components, circuits, or systems.
  • Applies mathematical and engineering principles and methods to designs.
  • Performs extensive testing and validation of designs to ensure reliability, performance, and safety standards are achieved.
  • Conducts research and studies new technologies to innovate and design solutions or products.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and 5-7 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of electro-mechanical testing methods, data collection and analysis, and testing operations.
  • Experience with embedded C for motor control.
  • Knowledge of feedback devices for motor control such as hall sensors, resolvers, and encoders.
  • Experience with multiple serial communications protocols such as SPI, I2C, RS232/RS485.
  • Proficient with MATLAB and SIMULINK applications.
  • Strong research, design, and development knowledge within the electrical engineering discipline.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Altium Designer skillset.
  • Gigabit Ethernet direct experience.
