If you are energized by the impact you can make at Upstart, we’d love to hear from you! The Team At Upstart Auto Retail, we are creating a next gen auto retail lending platform from the ground up. The Auto Retail team operates with a startup mentality, and we are looking for our next designer. We need someone that is willing to push through problems quickly, be decisive, and utilize any resources available to create high quality products resulting in delightful customer experiences. As the Senior Product Designer, Auto Retail at Upstart, you will partner with product managers and engineers to shape a rapidly growing product that is being used on mobile, and desktop devices. You’ll report directly to the Director of Product Design, and partner closely with another auto designer driving research and design strategy, and design execution across auto retail and lending.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the user experience of products end-to-end, including contributing to product strategy, design research, and measuring success of your shipped products
  • Explore complex, ambiguous problem spaces in the auto industry and collaborate with internal and external teams to wrap your head around customer and business problems
  • Push creative boundaries while simultaneously contributing to and helping manage our design system
  • Build and ship products that are unmatched in usability and function
  • Conduct user research utilizing a variety of methods

Requirements

  • Have 7+ years of solving complex problems and use your refined design process to continuously improve product throughout its lifecycle
  • Are capable of diligently navigating the dynamic relationship between user needs and business requirements
  • Thrive in complicated problem spaces, and design UX flows utilizing your design thinking excellence
  • Think at a systems level and consider every touch point of the user journey
  • Value high quality well crafted visual design, and care deeply about the small details
  • Have ample experience shipping both enterprise and consumer facing products
  • Flexible and able to adapt in a fast paced environment
  • Must be comfortable with making product design decisions with limited and/or conflicting data

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience designing for auto retail experiences including B2B and/or B2B2C
  • Experience in regulated industries such as fintech, healthcare, or enterprise software.
  • Deep understanding of accessibility, compliance, and regulated product design
  • Track record of improving product performance through design
  • Experience working within and contributing to design systems
  • Commitment to accessibility and inclusive design standards
