About the position
Coinbase Developer Platform (CDP) is building the developer tools to bring the world onchain. Today, onchain development is slow, risky, and painful, even for the most experienced onchain developers. Our goal is to bring a million developers onchain by creating an easy to use and trusted developer experience. We build API and SDK products for developers like wallets, paymaster, staking, stablecoins, onchain data, and more. We are a small team that moves like a startup at Coinbase, with a fast pace, strong ownership culture, and a relentless commitment to making developers happy. The Coinbase Developer Platform team is building the foundation that powers the next generation of onchain applications. We design tools, APIs, and documentation that enable developers to build seamlessly with blockchain infrastructure. As a Senior Product Designer on this team, you’ll help shape the developer experience from the ground up—working on projects that span CLI tools, SDKs, dashboards, and onboarding flows. You'll collaborate closely with engineers, PMs, and researchers to bring clarity, structure, and polish to complex technical systems.
Responsibilities
- Design end-to-end user experiences across developer-facing products—CLI tools, APIs, docs, dashboards, and integration flows.
- Create prototypes to communicate ideas and explore technical interactions, especially for new tools and workflows.
- Partner with engineering and PM to define product direction and ensure a cohesive user experience across our surfaces.
- Advocate for developers by identifying pain points and simplifying complex concepts into intuitive interfaces.
- Help define the visual language and interaction patterns for Coinbase’s developer ecosystem.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience designing digital products, with a strong portfolio showcasing high-craft, user-centered design work.
- Experience designing for developers or technical users — APIs, SDKs, terminals, dashboards, or internal tools.
- Ability to prototype in tools like Framer, Figma, or code to bring ideas to life and iterate quickly.
- Comfortable working in ambiguity and distilling complex systems into elegant solutions.
- Strong communication and storytelling skills to align cross-functional teams around design decisions.
Nice-to-haves
- Hands-on experience with programming or working knowledge of web technologies like HTML & CSS, Javascript/Typescript, and React.
- Experience contributing to or designing for open-source projects.
- Familiarity with crypto or onchain concepts such as wallets, smart contracts, or blockchain data.
