About the position

We are seeking a visionary and technically-astute Senior Product Manager to lead our property & listing data enrichment domains. This is a pivotal role responsible for the strategic development of roadmaps, and execution of our property and listing data assets. You will lead 2-3 dedicated engineering squads to build and scale the services that acquire, enrich, aggregate and serve data that power experiences across consumer. Your mission will be to source and transform data into a cohesive, near real-time, and intelligent source of truth about property in Australia, unlocking enormous value for our consumers. You will be a key leader in our product organization, working with a broad group of stakeholders to balance strategic initiatives and deliver tangible business impact.

Responsibilities

  • Articulate and provide thought leadership on the consumer listing and property data strategy.
  • Maintain a roadmap which balances current operational constraints, targeted delivery of value and long-term strategic goals.
  • Define and compellingly articulate the product and data architecture and value proposition to internal customers and stakeholders.
  • Research and identify new strategic property data opportunities that align with our vision and meet consumer needs and quality standards.
  • Define and manage clear, outcome-oriented roadmaps for 2-3 engineering squads, balancing long-term needs of scale/re-use with near-term market responsiveness considerations.
  • Lead the team in development of new products and features e2e including discovery, opportunity assessment, ideation, development, delivery, launch, and support.
  • Identify new opportunities for data acquisition, building business cases to secure investment.
  • Effectively implement and monitor plans/schedules with dependent teams/stakeholders, making appropriate trade-offs on scope, time, and cost.
  • Prioritisation for impact - balance system consolidation, execution of tech strategy alongside market facing outcomes.
  • Work closely with technology and product leads across the business, developing an enterprise-wide perspective to support REA as a data-driven organisation.
  • Initiating engagement forums and creating a cadence to continuously capture feedback and requirements to drive product improvements.
  • As one of the SMEs of Property and listing Data, bringing our stakeholders on our journey via education and knowledge sharing.
  • Closely track and provide insights into drivers of product performance using data and key metrics.
  • Manage the product portfolio according to the stages of each product or feature's lifecycle.
  • Make recommendations on whether to grow, evolve or retire products balancing strategic direction with product performance and investment outlook.
  • Recommend resource alignment towards high priority products and initiatives.
  • A champion for data quality and ensuring our product, data and technology solutions adhere to the dimensions of data quality, including but not limited to, accuracy, completeness, timeliness, consistency, and security/privacy.
  • Effectively engage the team to come up with creative options for data and technology-based solutions.
  • Help drive data and technology design choices while clearly articulating the decision-making criteria to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Working closely with AI/ML teams to ensure data models support Ai model development.
  • Understand and mitigate the effects of technical debt.
  • Understand the need for clear data communication, documentation, and visualisation, and how to incorporate it appropriately into product delivery.

Requirements

  • Hands on experience of some form working with data will be highly regarded - from a product management, analyst, engineering, consulting, or other perspective.
  • Working knowledge of data engineering concepts and practices.
  • Some SQL and/or programming skills.
  • Demonstrated experience making data driven decisions, and in communicating concepts effectively using data and visualisation.
  • A passion for data and how it can be used to solve real problems.
  • Ability to analyse, understand and extract value from data assets.
  • Strong analytical skills, including ability to interpret complex business needs and translate into product requirements for technical solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage product or project roadmaps with trade-offs and dependencies.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing and operationalising processes.
  • Able to communicate and collaborate effectively with business and technical stakeholders.
  • A self-starter and innovative thinker who keeps their finger on the pulse with the latest data trends.
  • Solid prioritisation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with data platforms and event driven architectures highly regarded.
  • Ability to manage the competing demands of multiple teams in a timely manner.
  • Able to create clarity and generates positive energy whilst leading a cross-functional team of people from different disciplines.
  • Familiarity with Data Governance, Privacy and Security concepts and policies well regarded.
  • Property data domain knowledge is highly desirable.
