The Senior Product Manager is the product owner and has responsibility for product strategy, prioritizing product development, and tactical execution of the product roadmaps. The SPM also collaborates with the sales, marketing and implementation teams as needed to ensure business success and customer satisfaction for the products. As product owner, you will be responsible for all aspects of product planning, development, and go-to-market. This role works collaboratively with the product marketing team, finance, and sales for product release and promotional efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee market analysis and develop product strategy and business cases.
  • Define strategic product goals based on market, member and user needs, and overall strategic goals.
  • Champion the end-user and member libraries, bringing their voice into the product creation process.
  • Facilitate collaboration and communication between development team, product management, and other divisional workgroups.
  • Own the measures used to define success for your product and make them visible to all stakeholders.
  • Assist in the development of strategies for customer acquisition and retention.
  • Manage relationships with user groups and assist sales team in marketing and awareness plans.
  • Understand how and when to commission market research to maintain expertise in markets served.
  • Support the sales team through training and assistance with significant sales calls and presentations.
  • Lead go-to-market strategies, meetings, and coordination.
  • Provide input into portfolio business plans, roadmaps, strategies, metrics, and progress reports.
  • Serve as mentor and support for less experienced Product Managers.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
  • 6 to 8 years experience in product, project or program management
  • Entrepreneurial attitude, team player, leadership skills, and self-confidence
  • Well developed communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional team environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Demonstrated understanding of a Product Management Lifecycle model
  • Demonstrated ability with Financial planning and financial forecasting
  • Extensive understanding of technical capabilities and market requirements
  • Strong customer relationship skills

Nice-to-haves

  • Masters degree
  • 4 to 6 years experience in library services or library management systems
  • 4 to 6 years experience in supporting online/database services, preferably in the library field
  • A broad knowledge of library markets, information professionals and relevant technologies
  • Experience taking at least one product from conception to market launch
