About the position
The Proactive Intelligence Platform is at the heart of an intelligent system experience that understands you and anticipates your needs. We are building an on-device personal and contextual intelligence platform that will benefit the millions of people who use Apple devices every day. Our team is comprised of Systems engineers and ML engineers focused on seamlessly integrating intelligence into all Apple products. Our team is responsible for developing exciting new features across all Apple platforms -- iOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, visionOS, and private cloud compute. You should have a strong understanding of operating system fundamentals and experience working throughout the stack. As a member of the team, you would participate in all stages of software development, from new feature design and implementation, to maintenance and bug fixing of released code. You will develop and improve unit tests and performance tests, and may also work on diagnosing and resolving customer reported issues! You will primarily be responsible for working on daemons and frameworks to support Apple Intelligence and the management of models for on-device inference and routing to private cloud compute.
Responsibilities
- Participate in all stages of software development, from new feature design and implementation to maintenance and bug fixing of released code.
- Develop and improve unit tests and performance tests.
- Diagnose and resolve customer reported issues.
- Work on daemons and frameworks to support Apple Intelligence.
- Manage models for on-device inference and routing to private cloud compute.
- Provide design guidance and technical support to teams across the company.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of operating system fundamentals.
- Experience working throughout the stack.
- Previous experience with writing or maintaining daemons, libraries, and command line tools on a UNIX platform.
- Excellent analytical skills and debugging experience.
- Development experience on macOS and/or iOS.
- Familiarity with machine learning concepts.
- Familiarity with Xcode.
