Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Software Engineer / Principal Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our software organization. The location for this opportunity is Melbourne, Florida and will be primarily based within our office spaces to support the program and business needs. Operating on our 9/80 schedule, meaning you will get every other Friday off. The position has NO remote or Hybrid work available. The Aeronautics Systems sector Research & Advanced Design (R&AD) is looking to grow Joint All Domain Command and Control (JADC2) in support of designing and implementing technologies critical to the USAF Open Architecture initiatives. Our work influences the investment decisions of our senior leadership and customer program offices as well as impacting the Air Force enterprise of acquisition programs.

  • Deploy product updates
  • Set up software factory, virtual machines, containers, and orchestration
  • Support software development for use across multi-domain/multi-platform scenarios
  • Participate in the full life-cycle of software development, including requirements development, modeling and design, application development, unit testing, integration, formal system testing, release, installation, and maintenance of clusters
  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, software, servers, and hardware
  • Deploy, manage, and support virtualized environments (e.g. VMware, Hyper-V, or other hypervisors)
  • Implement and manage core infrastructure services (e.g., DNS, DHCP, NAS, and Active Directory)
  • Set up an overall Cloud-native Software Factory
  • Manage and improve container orchestration and deployment strategies
  • Support programs with integration and deployment automation in a cloud enabled environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 2 Years experience; OR a master’s degree in STEM discipline with 0 Years experience for Software Engineer
  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM discipline with 5 Years experience; OR a master’s degree in STEM discipline with 3 Years experience; OR a PhD in STEM discipline with 1 Years experience for Principal Software Engineer
  • Experience developing software with C/C++/Python/Java
  • Experience with OMS, UCI Schema, and CAL development
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows and Linux environments
  • Experience scripting in YAML, PowerShell, BASH, JSON, etc.
  • Ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance
  • Proficient with networking concepts
  • Active Top Secret clearance
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science
  • Experience integrating and debugging software on hardware
  • Experience working within an Agile environment
  • Familiarity with software development tools such as Git, CMake, and Eclipse, Visual Studio Code
  • Proficiency working in Linux and commands
  • Able to work independently and identify solutions to complex problems
