About the position

At Verisk EES (Extreme Event Solutions), we do some cool advanced analytic stuff! We build stochastic models to simulate Catastrophic Events that will inform the insurance industry. Events include Hurricanes, Earthquakes, and Flooding, just to name a few. We then run Monte Carlo simulations to provide hundreds of thousands of years of simulated events. These help the insurance industry make objective and data driven decisions based on their risk tolerances. As a company, we have a strong sense of purpose and know we are helping resilient communities worldwide. This role is focused on our SaaS Solutions, working for Quality Assurance on the implementation of our cloud products.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and analyze requirements, ensuring clarity and completeness for testing purposes.
  • Author detailed and structured test plans based on software requirements, ensuring all aspects of the product are thoroughly tested.
  • Develop and document test cases and test scripts that cover all aspects of the product, including functional, non-functional, and regression testing.
  • Partner with the C# developers, identify the test areas to ensure the full product coverage.
  • Code in C# to develop unit & integration tests optimized to run in an AWS environment, using a minimal footprint, while being organized and properly documenting test cases.
  • Author API based requests to execute scrum team integration tests to determine the pass / fail of the response, implemented in the in-house automation framework.
  • Use a quantitative data analytics mindset to deliver on day-to-day tasks, ensuring tests are robust while participating in cross-functional Agile Scrum teams.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical focus and attention to detail along with a methodical approach to problem solving.
  • Commit towards quality assurance that leverages best practices and helps to enhance them.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate/graduate degree in a STEM related area, including data science, engineering, science and/or mathematics & finance.
  • Minimum 2 - 4 Years of Quality Assurance experience working in an Agile software development team.
  • Experience in testing microservices-based and highly distributed systems.
  • Experience in writing and executing performance tests.
  • Demonstrated experience in an object-oriented programming language such as C++, C# or Java.
  • Experience with development or testing cloud native products, web development, web testing and/or cloud testing environments (Serverless SaaS stack).
  • Strong prior experience with AWS Eco system and technology stack is preferable.
  • Docker experience is a plus.
  • Aptitude for quantitative problem solving or advanced analytics.
  • QA testing experience using API (Postman), E2E (Cypress).
  • Strong aptitude with relational databases and a good working knowledge with on-premises or cloud based advanced database systems.
