About the position

The Operations Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility, ensuring compliance with HR, manufacturing, and safety procedures. This role involves monitoring key performance indicators, managing production budgets, and implementing operational strategies to enhance productivity and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to HR, manufacturing, environmental health, and safety procedures.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and improve operational performance.
  • Utilize operational excellence tools such as 6-sigma and 5-S to develop industry-class operations.
  • Prepare and maintain production reports and other communication for senior management.
  • Monitor and review the performance of staff and issue corrective action as needed.
  • Create and manage production budgets.
  • Initiate deviations and investigations for manufacturing processes when required.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations in the areas of filling and secondary packaging.
  • Manage daily/monthly production goal setting and operational attainment.
  • Strategically identify CAPEX for machinery to match production plan.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies, plans, and procedures to enhance productivity and quality.
  • Generate/Manage SOPs to govern Pharmaceutical Operation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field required.
  • 5+ years of Management experience in a manufacturing operation required in a regulated industry (food/pharmaceutical).
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of cGMP and other applicable regulatory requirements (OSHA, DHEC, etc.).
  • Ability to evaluate and identify corrective actions related to compounding operations, filling operations, secondary packaging, yield reconciliation, product consistency, cleaning, operational deviations, etc.
  • Ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word and Excel).
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety and pharmaceutical regulations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Purchasing, scheduling and QA/QC functional experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of liquid filling, tablet filling and secondary packaging preferred.
