About the position

The UX/UI Designer position at the State of Ohio's Department of Administrative Services (DAS) focuses on leading the design system and creating user-centered digital experiences. The role involves a mix of design system management and UX/UI design, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and accessibility. The designer will work closely with various teams to ensure that design principles and components are effectively implemented across the enterprise, contributing to high-quality public services.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and evolve the design system by conducting weekly Design Operations meetings and managing the product roadmap.
  • Create interactive prototypes for websites, products, and components, refining designs based on user testing and feedback.
  • Guide external designers in promoting user experience philosophy and best practices for design system components.
  • Define, document, and communicate design guidelines, patterns, and standards.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and feedback through discussions and design reviews with internal and external teams.
  • Advocate for inclusive design practices, ensuring adherence to accessibility standards.

Requirements

  • 5 years of professional experience as a UI designer, UX designer, or interaction designer.
  • 5 years of experience working with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, UXPin, AdobeXD, etc.
  • A portfolio showcasing user experience and visual design is required.
  • 2 years of professional experience working with design systems.
  • 7 years of experience in UI design is required.
  • 7 years of experience in UX design is required.
