About the position

The Special Education Assistant will provide educational supports to all students under the direction of licensed staff, focusing on supporting Individual Education Plans. The role includes supervising students in various settings and monitoring for safety concerns, as well as assisting with the implementation of Behavior Support Plans. This position is part-time, with 3 hours dedicated to Special Education Assistance and 4.5 hours to Administrative Support, following a 10-month calendar.

Responsibilities

  • Provide educational supports to all students under the direction of licensed staff.
  • Focus on supporting Individual Education Plans.
  • Supervise students in various settings and monitor for safety concerns.
  • Assist with the implementation of Behavior Support Plans.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Proficient in the use of computer and Internet-based applications, including email and systems applications.
  • Hold a valid certificate in a District approved student intervention system or be able to obtain it within 60 days.
  • Experience working with children.
  • "Highly Qualified" status required (two years of post-secondary education or an associate's (or higher) degree; or District approved academic assessment).
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required.
