Staff Software Engineer I, Experimentation Orchestration

About the position

Etsy is looking for a passionate Staff Software Engineer to help us enable data-driven learning and decision-making for our Experimentation initiative. This is a high-impact opportunity to influence the technical direction of experimentation at Etsy, which affects feature development across the company. This is a full-time position reporting to the Engineering Manager for Experimentation Orchestration. Responsibilities

• Partner with engineers, analysts, and product managers to improve Etsy's experimentation platform.
• Lead, design, and implement solutions that keep our platform at the forefront of industry standards.
• Mentor and uplevel others within the team and across Etsy to help them grow as software engineers.
• Advocate for experimentation best practices across engineering teams.
• Drive technical and product direction through thoughtful decision-making and collaboration.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with A/B testing frameworks and experimentation workflows.
• Excitement about full-stack development, particularly in the context of building experimentation platforms.
• Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring others.
• Experience designing and building reliable, scalable systems.
• Ability to write clean, testable code in PHP, Python, or Java.
• Proficiency with MySQL or similar relational databases.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure.
