About the position

The Sterile Process Technician Non-Cert position at McLaren Lapeer Region involves managing the entire process of decontamination, sterilization, and assembly of surgical instruments and supplies. This role is crucial in ensuring that all surgical tools are properly sterilized and ready for use in the operating room, contributing to patient safety and effective surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assigns priority to emergency requests and issues required supplies and equipment based on knowledge of procedure intended.
• Assists in orientation of new employees to each work assignment area and total department operation.
• Orders supplies including replacement components and implants on all orthopedic systems utilized by physicians in the surgical environment.
• Sterilizes instruments, equipment, utensils, and supplies using various types of sterilizers, aerators, and high-level disinfectors.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 6 months work experience in a Sterile Processing Department or as a Surgical Scrub Technician OR completion of a college-level course in Sterile Processing.

Nice-to-haves

• One to two years of formal education or training beyond High School in Post-High school course in Sterile Processing.
