Student - AI User Interface/User Experience (UI/UX) Developer - Herbert Research

About the position

The Part-time AI User Interface/User Experience (UI/UX) Developer - Herbert Research supports the DataGovAI project-a civic-tech initiative focused on responsible data governance, privacy, transparency, and public value creation in Utah. This is a hands-on opportunity to contribute to the design and implementation of web-based tools and dashboards that support Utah government agencies in implementing data privacy best practices under the new Government Data Privacy Act (GDPA).

Responsibilities

• Develops responsive, accessible UI components using React, Tailwind CSS, Typescript and shadcn/ui.
• Translates design prototypes (Figma) into working code across devices and screen sizes.
• Applies accessibility and usability standards (WCAG 2.1+).
• Collaborates with faculty researchers, engineers, and privacy experts on an interdisciplinary team.
• Refines user experiences based on feedback and policy requirements.
• Contributes to documentation and version control in GitHub.
• Reports requirements to the appropriate faculty, staff, team.

Requirements

• Must be a current UVU student.

Nice-to-haves

• Project management major, or seeking to become a project manager preferably in an IT environment.
