About the position

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our Sushi Lab East Village team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Japanese cuisine, particularly in sushi preparation, and will be committed to delivering high-quality dishes that meet our fine dining standards. As a Sushi Chef, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our guests enjoy an exceptional dining experience through your culinary expertise and creativity.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present a variety of sushi dishes, including nigiri and sashimi.
  • Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with food safety regulations and standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station and kitchen area.
  • Cut, slice, and fillet different types of fish.
  • Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
  • Stay updated on current food trends and incorporate innovative ideas into the menu.
  • Provide excellent customer service by engaging with guests about menu items and making recommendations.

Requirements

  • Sushi culinary experience with a focus on Japanese cuisine.
  • 3 years of cooking and food preparation experience.
  • Proficient knife skills for precise cutting and presentation of sushi ingredients.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety practices to ensure a hygienic cooking environment.
