KBR supports NOAA's Total Operational Weather Readiness-Satellites (TOWR-S) mission, ensuring the GOES-R Series and future GeoXO satellite systems deliver mission-critical environmental intelligence to forecasters, scientists, and decision-makers. Our team builds, integrates, and sustains next-generation ground systems, cloud platforms, and high-performance computing for satellite data processing.

  • Lead design and deployment of cloud-native architectures (AWS EC2, S3, DynamoDB, containerized environments) for satellite ground systems.
  • Architect secure VPCs and DevOps pipelines to support continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) of mission applications.
  • Drive cloud migration of ground-system functions (e.g., L0 storage, AWIPS, ML/AI prototypes) to scalable AWS infrastructure.
  • Lead integration/testing of high-performance computing (HPC) and ML/AI environments for large-scale satellite data processing.
  • Collaborate with NOAA stakeholders, program managers, and product users to address system discrepancies, enhancements, and performance metrics.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical oversight for integration, anomaly resolution, and deployment activities.
  • Develop technical documentation, training materials, and operational guides for NOAA/NWS personnel.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 15+ years in systems/software engineering, integration, or operational deployment for large distributed enterprise systems.
  • Extensive experience with AWS cloud services (EC2, S3, SNS/SQS, DynamoDB, Docker, SES).
  • Strong DevOps, Linux, and enterprise systems integration background.
  • Hands-on expertise with HPC, ML/AI frameworks (CUDA, TensorFlow), and mission-critical applications.
  • Proven track record of leading teams, delivering on schedule, and resolving complex anomalies in real-time operations.
  • Direct experience with GOES-R/GeoXO ground systems and demonstrated familiarity with AWIPS deployment and data operations workflows.
  • Prior NOAA/NASA mission experience beyond GOES-R/GeoXO.
  • Experience with enterprise messaging (Solace, Oracle Coherence, IBM/open-source brokers).
  • Demonstrated innovation (awards, patents, or cost-saving implementations).
  • Strong written/oral communication skills with government and technical stakeholders.
  • 401K plan with company match
  • Medical, dental, vision, life insurance, AD&D
  • Flexible spending account
  • Disability
  • Paid time off
