About the position

The Vice President of Internal Audit at Red Canoe Credit Union is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight of the internal audit function. This role ensures the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes within the credit union. The VP will manage a co-sourced internal audit model, report to the Supervisory Committee and CEO, and provide independent appraisals of the internal control systems, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the annual internal audit plan based on a comprehensive risk assessment.
• Oversee all audit engagements, including planning, execution, and reporting to ensure compliance with audit standards.
• Evaluate the credit union's compliance and risk management frameworks, identifying key risk areas and recommending enhancements.
• Report audit findings and strategic recommendations to the Supervisory Committee, senior management, and the board.
• Lead a team of internal audit staff, providing mentorship and professional development opportunities.
• Investigate fraud and other suspicious activity and partner with Human Resources on appropriate course of action.
• Implement best practices in internal auditing and ensure compliance with Institute of Internal Audit standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required.
• CPA, CIA, or CISA certification required.
• Minimum of 10 years of internal audit experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within a financial institution.
